Quebec Releases New Updates On Additional Tuition Fees Exemption For International Students

Quebec has announced new updates regarding the additional tuition fees imposed on foreign students enrolled in Quebec universities. These measures are expected to be implemented starting September 2023.

It is worth mentioning that Montreal will be excluded from these new updates. The foreign students who are enrolled essentially in a college or university placed outside the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal will be exempted from the additional tuition fees.

Also, they will have to accomplish a program of studies in French that meets the employment sector criteria specified by the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

These programs of study include:

Education
Information Technology
Educational Childcare services
Health & Social Services
Engineering

In order to be eligible for this exemption, foreign students who fulfill the criteria will be paying the same tuition fees as students of Quebec. The conditions are as follows:

You must be a student enrolled in a college or university.
You must be enrolled in one of the above-mentioned programs of studies identified by the government of Quebec in French.
You must be learning and residing in Quebec except for the territory of Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

This exemption will be available for some higher educational institutions & programs.
