What are the Canadian immigration programs for investors?
1. Federal Business Immigration to Canada Programs
The Canadian government has several programs designed to help talented people with successful careers in the business world, including entrepreneurs looking for permanent residence.
With so many people looking to move permanently or temporarily into Canada, you must have an idea of Federal Business Immigration Programs. These immigration opportunities are designed for skilled entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses in any province besides Quebec!
- You could start your company’s Canadian subsidiary, which will be eligible for permanent residence once fully operational.
- When the Canadian subsidiary is launched and made fully operational, it may be eligible for permanent residence.
- The owner/transferee of this business can then extend a job offer that will allow them to continue managing their successful company in Canada.
On average, immigrants with a business background can expect to spend several years in Canada before becoming permanent residents and another three applying for citizenship.
2. Quebec Business Immigration to Canada Programs
To help attract international business owners to the province, Quebec offers programs that make it easier for entrepreneurs, investors and self-employed individuals to immigrate.
The main requirement of the Quebec Business Immigration Program is for applicants to prove that they can be economically established upon arrival to Canada, with the intention of permanently settling in Quebec upon arrival.
Once you are successfully accepted, you will receive a Quebec Selection Certificate, and can then meet the federal requirements set by the Government of Canada to be approved for permanent residency.
These programs are an excellent way to grow your small business in the province of Quebec. Designed with entrepreneurial diversity in mind, these programs offer many benefits for those who want to start their own company and create jobs on a provincial scale.
A. Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSW)
The program is one of the most sought-after immigration pathways to Canada. This point-based scheme requires applicants to demonstrate a minimum amount of professional work experience, and as such, it enjoys high demand among those looking for permanent residence status.
The advantage of this program is that you don’t need to be fluent in French, but your proficiency can increase your score on the points assessment grid.
The Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) is a unique immigration pathway to permanent residence in the province of Quebec. The program requires that candidates have experience working or studying there, and they must also demonstrate advanced intermediate French language skills.
Quebec’s Investor Program is an exclusive program that only accepts applicants with net assets totaling at least CAD 2 million and can invest CAD 1.2 million through Québec-based financial intermediaries. Applicants who meet these criteria may be eligible for permanent residence in Canada!
The Quebec Entrepreneur Program is an excellent opportunity for experienced entrepreneurs to expand their businesses in Quebec. Requirements include financial capacity and experience managing projects or acquiring businesses in this province, so it’s important to apply!
The program is a great way for those who are self-employed and would like to live in Quebec. An applicant needs CAD 100,000 worth of assets as well as two years of experience with their chosen field here before they can apply, though!
Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ)
A Quebec Acceptance Certificate is a document that must be obtained for international students to pursue their chosen program legally. It includes most programs at the college or university level and varies depending on where you live in Canada.
Submitting a Business Project
All applicants under the Quebec Entrepreneur Program are required to submit a business project that they wish to undertake if accepted into the province. An important part of the immigration assessment, all applicants must attend a selection interview after passing the initial assessment of their application.
3. Provincial Nominee Programs for Business BPNP
A new stream for candidates with entrepreneurial or management experience has been added to the PNP of many Canadian Provinces and Territories. Successful applicants will then invariably get a provincial nomination for permanent residence, which is generally submitted to the federal government.

4. Business Visitor Visa
A Business Visitor Visa is for individuals who plan to engage in international business markets by growing, investing, or creating connections. The visa requires that the applicant does not intend to impact Canadian job markets, among other requirements!
Canadian visas are divided into two categories: single entry and multiple. The difference between the two mainly depends on how many times you can return to Canada before your Visa expires, but there’s more than that!
Single-Entry Visa
This type of Visa is meant for one 1-time. They’re not as common as multiple-entry visas. Applicants are considered automatically for multiple-entry visas and then are issued single-entry permits under unique circumstances. It’s not up to your choice.
Multiple Entry Visa
The multiple-entry visa is perfect for those who want to travel and work in Canada. As long as your travels are within the validity period, you can enter and leave without limit!
Multiple entry visitor visas are excellent for anyone looking to enter Canada temporarily. They allow you six months of unlimited visits and can be valid for up to ten years with no limit!
If you have a study permit or work Visa and are not otherwise exempt, then Canada’s Immigration Office will issue your visitor’s Visa. That means that this is an automatic multiple-entry document with the ability to enter Canada as many times as needed!
Who needs a visitor visa?
Visitors to Canada should prepare for a visa process.
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident does not require any further documentation. Still, an applicant who has neither of these statuses will need the proper paperwork to enter and stay legally.
Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for a visitor visa, even if their card has expired. They must instead get the PRTD.
Visa-Exempt Countries
For most countries, a visitor’s visa is required to enter Canada. However, there are agreements with several nations that exempt citizens from needing one. The only requirement for these visitors coming by air is an electronic travel authorization or eTA.
The eTA is a required document for most foreign nationals who are exempt from requiring Canadian visitor visas.
Application Process
All visa applicants are required to apply with all necessary supporting documentation. Applicants may apply online, through the mail, or in person at a Visa Application Center (VAC).
- If you’re traveling as part of your family members, each member, including dependent children, must complete their paperwork for admission into Canada.
- Biometrics is the perfect way to make sure your visitor’s visa application is processed quickly and accurately.
- If you’re required to provide them, applicants will need their fingerprints or photographs taken at a biometric collection service point before submitting them in person when prompted by VAC staff members.
Individuals who have a start-up or innovative business that will help grow the Canadian economy may be eligible for this program. The Start-up Visa is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs to start their businesses in Canada. Successful applicants will get permanent residence, as well as the chance for family residence.
