Breaking news for aspiring immigrants! Canada’s Express Entry system has announced its first-ever Trades-specific draw for permanent residency (PR), and the results are out!
Latest Targeted Express Entry Draw
On August 03, 2023, the Express Entry draw was conducted, targeting 10 specific trade occupations. The draw issued 1,500 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. To be eligible for an invitation, candidates needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 388 or higher, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited scoring 388 points.

- Residential and Commercial Installers and Servicers – 2021 NOC code: 73200.
- Elevator Constructors and Mechanics – 2021 NOC code: 72406.
- Machine Fitters – 2021 NOC code: 72405.
- Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Mechanics – 2021 NOC code: 72402.
- Construction Millwrights and Industrial Mechanics – 2021 NOC code: 72400.
- Carpenters – 2021 NOC code: 72310.
- Plumbers – 2021 NOC code: 72300.
- Electricians (except Industrial and Power System) – 2021 NOC code: 72200.
- Welders and Related Machine Operators – 2021 NOC code: 72106.
- Contractors and Supervisors, Other Construction Trades, Installers, Repairers, and Servicers – 2021 NOC code: 72014.
What are the targeted Sectors by the Express Entry draw 2023?
IRCC is conducting new occupation-based Express Entry draws for candidates with at least 6 months of work experience in one of the following industries over the past three years:
- Healthcare.
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions.
- Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors.
- Transport.
- Agriculture and agri-food.
